San Francisco

o a a couple weeks ago Hubby was flown up to the Bay Area for a job interview! We were of course super excited and super hopeful for the job to work out!
2 days later he got a phone call offering him the position! Before accepting the job though we wanted to go up to the city the job was in and check out the area and everything around the city. As you may or may not know  the Bay area is incredibly expensive…INCREDIBLY!
So after our Easter celebration on Sunday we loaded up the car and set out for the 6 hour drive up north. It was an easy but LONG drive and Faith did awesome! Seriously I can’t give the girl enough credit for how wonderful she is!  We got up there settled into the hotel and were excited to explore the area the following day. Although Faith seemed to really enjoy just being in the hotel!

Monday morning we woke up and visited the office where Hubby would be working. Can we just say A-MAZING! Coolest office I had ever seen with a Starbucks inside even and tons of awesomeness!
After that we headed out to check out some apartments in the area. This is where everything just started going down hill. The first place we look at was an old 800 square foot 2 bedroom 1 bath apartment going for $2000 per month. Nope that is not a typo $2000 freaking dollars per month plus paying all your own utilities for a teeny tiny 800 square foot old apartment. So we continued our search only to find similar or worse situations everywhere else in the area. We checked in neighboring cities, we checked everywhere and everything was fairly the same, over priced and small. The one place that I most likely would have liked was 82- square feet and a grand total of $2500 a month…
Seriously out of control!
Plus factor in the cost of living around us, moving, U-Haul, plus breaking our current lease the negatives of accepting the job far outweighed the benefits. So in the end Hubby decided to deny the offer.
It was a hard couple days. Both of us agreed that Northern California was definitely not us. Not in the least but still turning down a job just seemed rather crazy…but we are hopeful that the Lord will provide another opportunity that fits our new family of 3. Somewhere we feel home, somewhere we can hopefully purchase a house and somewhere that just feels right.
But while we were in the area we decided to make the best of it and check out some of San Francisco's attractions. Again Faith did amazing! So much driving, cold weather and just  totally out of her element in the hotel she still did great!

This is going to be part of those cheesy home movies one day… My Hubby is too funny!
We ate breakfast the next morning than started our long drive back with a stop at Applebee’s for some spinach dip ( and Faith some Puffs) and then headed home to share the news with my family that we were staying put for a little while longer.
Enjoying eating some yummy puffs!
If you don’t mind saying a small prayer for us. For guidance and the right place for a job offer to come up. Honestly we are really hoping and praying for Texas, specifically the Austin area. But we are open to whatever the Lord has in store for us we just want it to feel right so that we know we are at our new home!
So the job hunt continues, life continues, we’ve returned from San Francisco with a renewed heart that while things may not have worked out there we know we somewhere we will find our new place to call home!

I'll be praying you find something soon. We had to turn down an offer in the midst of our job search as well and it was the scariest thing to do not knowing how long it would take to find another job. But, God is in control. And for your sake, I pray you can make it to Austin. I'll be just a little bit jealous of you being in Texas. :) I miss it!

Holy moly! $2000 for a 2 bd/1 bath?! We're about to sign a lease for a 2 bd/1 bath for under $750. I'm going to stop complaining now, lol. Goodness!

I am going to say a whole lot of prayers for you guys. Living in Texas is awesome & affordable, depending on which places you live in Austin...but yes! many prayers being sent your way :) Good luck!

p.s. Faith is so precious!!

She is seriously so absolutely adorable!
I'm sorry to hear that the opportunity didn't work out but it obviously wasn't meant to be. I'll keep you all in my prayers.

I'm sorry the job didn't work out for you! My hubby and I went to San Fran for our honeymoon. It was gorgeous, but it's hard to imagine living there.

Oh, and TX is awesome, especially Austin. I have family there and we try to take a short road trip out there when we can.
