There's no other title that would be more fitting. I went in to the Dr. completely ready to get my trigger shot and get to work. Well guess what? None of my follicles were mature nor even close to being mature! The clomid isn't working and isn't being affective. AND we found out I didn't ovulate last month either, the follicle basically turned into a big cyst. So Doctor tells me I'm going to start on Menopur injectibles. Fine whatever works. I go down the way to the pharmacy and give him my new insurance card. " I'm sorry but its not covered." " Alright" I say "how much?" I don't want to put specific numbers on the blog but you all know and if you don't let me tell you, its far to much money. I just started to cry. " I can't do that, I just can't"! Oh, the look on the pharmacist face, poor guy making a young girl cry. I told him to let me call my husband and see. My wonderful husband told me he supported whatever decision I made and that it would be OK. I went back in composed myself and apologized to the pharmacists for being such a nut case. He was so kind and sympathetic. He filled my prescription, gave me all my instructions and wished me luck on my way out. Surprisingly after all that and some crying in the car on the way to lunch, I gathered myself and got on with my day. Annoyed and disappointed but a little hopeful too. A new treatment, a new opportunity. I just kept telling myself how much worse it could be and made a mental list of all the things I have to be grateful for...
Question for everyone... What's your experience with Menopur? Any happy pregnancy stories to lift my hopes?

Hey,
I too have PCOS and didn't respond to clomid- same issue as you- follies weren't growing enough and i don't o on my own. (irregular cycles) I tried Femara this cycle and responded well and should be Oing today or last night. My RE also wanted me to do injects but we went for Femara first. I hope this is your BFP cycle. If for any reason you need to do injects again let me know as I was given some speciality pharmacy phone #s that overnight the stuff and give a little discount. (my insurance doesn't cover injects either and I even had to pay for my HCG shot at the retail pharmacy). I wish you the best and will follow along with you! Best to you!
I kept reading your blog and we are so much alike at when we started clomid the # of cycles we did and when we got with an RE. So I hope we both get our BFPs this cycle too. Do you have to wait for AF before the injects or are you starting the injects right away now? I've heard a little of both but i think most people start after injects. Best to you!
Oh sweetie, your day really did stink didn't it?! I too am a PCOSer who's resistant to clomid. I did have success (o'ing and getting a bfp) with a protocol called minimal stimulation--they gave me clomid for a few days followed by 1-2 injections of Repronex (similar to Menopur). It's a more cost-effective approach and can often induce o when clomid wasn't successful. I know you already bought the meds, but it wouldn't hurt to call your doc and ask about it. The amount of meds that you purchased could be stretched for several cycles when used in the minimal stim protocol. Also, I used Menopur in combo with another med during my IVF protocol and had much success! I don't have any insurance coverage for IF, so after 5 years of IF tx I know just how expensive it can be. I hope that the Menopur is your magical drug.
Did your RE say anything about trying to get rid of the cyst before you start this cycle? I'm a little surprised that he/she'd let you move into a cycle with a giant cyst--they can mess with the cycle. I only mention this because I'd hate for you to "waste" all those meds on a cycle only to discover after that the cyst interfered!
I wish you the best in your upcoming cycle!
BTW ... thanks for visiting my blog and posting. :)
I don't have any experience with that drug, but it seems like you've rec'd some really great advice. I'm all ears too because I'm not 100% I've responded well to Clomid this cycle - unsure if I did indeed O. To answer your question, I chart on ovusoft.com. It's a one time fee of $40, I think. You can also chart for free on fertilityfriend.com. Also, freedomdrug.com has the Menopur for $65! I bet that was cheaper than what you got it for! They overnight the drug to you too for no charge!
I tried Menopur with IVF. I didnt have any major side effects, which was nice! I hope this will be your BFP.
Try IVP care for your menopur. They gave me a discount because I was OOP. I know it is pricey but it really works magic on stubborn ovaries. I hope it does the trick. For what it is worth clomid never worked for me either.
Beautiful wedding and wedding pics! Gorgeous cake and flowers. Looks like an amazing day!
anthem. Although it's not the insurance company, it's the package your employer signs up for
Hello,
What does OOP stand for? I am working with IVP Care and wanted to know how you got a discount...I am on Follistem and Menopur and Lupron for my 2nd IVF try...Our first IVF try, we spent $5000 in meds alone...any help on the cost would make a tremendous difference!!! Just wondered what you meant by OOP...thanks!
