Birthmother's Day

Everyday we celebrate Star. For who she is in our lives and the incredible gift that she blessed our life with. But today especially we celebrate her! We think about her and her selflessness and the intense love she has for Faith. We made a package and sent it out to her ( and boy I am hoping it gets there today!) and can't wait to hear that she has openned it!

We wanted to get Star so much! Everytime I was out I kept buying more and more stuff and finally just had to stop! So what we did end up getting her was...

A Blockbuster Gift card along with candy and popcorn. The reese's are her favorite so we made sure to put plenty of Reese's in there!

We also got some other members of her family some little things. Hot wheels cars, sidewalk chalk and a cute little Spider Man plate, bowl and cup set.

Then we gave her a cute little 3 franed thing that had a picture of Faith in the middle and on each side was her handprint and her footprint. It came out really adorable I was really proud of it!

Then the grand finale was a beautiful necklace with a picture of someone very special to her. Not Faith someone else but we ordered it fron snap.fish and it came out awesome! I told her to open it last because it as the gift I think she will hold dearest to her heart.

This is the generic photo on the website but we got her this exact same necklace with a different picture.

Yesterday I was fortunate enough to have a long conversation via FB with Star. For 4 hours on and off we chatted about everything. It was the most beautiful amazing conversation I have ever had with anyone. I want to tell you all about it, share how incredible she is and her amazing story and journey, but I won't, I can't. Those are memories for us and one day for Faith. But she told me numerous times how I am Faith's mom and how thankful she is that she picked us. The words every adoptive mother longs to hear! I shared with her how I shed a lot of tears for her and you know what she said " Well I hope they are only tears of happiness because there is nothing to be sad about. Everything is exactly how it is meant to be"

Let me tell you how badly I needed those words. A week that my joy seemd to be overshadowed by my guilt and Star told me I didn't need to cry...wow

She chose life for Faith and Faith is so lucky to have her. We are so lucky to have her.

I have a really amazing post that I am borrowing from my dear blogger friend Joy. But it's something I think is so important I want to save it for another day, another post devoted completely to it all about birth mothers. And the amazing beautiful women they are.

This is a beautful song to share today! Check it out and be ready to cry ;)

Oh wow, this post left me in tears. What beautiful gifts and such a stunning necklace. Thank you for this post, I needed to hear her words too. I've heard all week how crappy adoption is and how much it kills the child's birthmother and through Star, I am able to see the beautiful side of it!

Love all the little things you are sending Star! And the neckalce is beautiful, so sweet. I am sure she is going to treasure it! And I bet she will find herself staring that Faith's prints, running her fingers over the samll images.

It is really nice watching your relationship with Star grow!

I am so happy that you have such a wonderful relationship with Faith's Birthmom, Star. It makes me so happy that so many others have such an awesome respect and love for their Birthmom/Adoptive family! This did bring tears to my eyes and I'm glad that you love Mark Schultz's song, it touches my heart in so many ways. :-) Have a wonderful and blessed Mother's Day.

Wow, that video gives me the chills. Its beautiful. I know its birthmother's day but to me its just plain Mothers day and you are a mom. So I want to wish you an amazing first mothers day. Its truly amazing what can happen in a year.

What you did for Star's birth mom is so sweet. You are truly a good person.

This is so thoughtful. I truly admire moms who are so comfortable with the open adoption situation, and who value their child's birth mom so much! You are already teaching Faith a level of grace and maturity that will transcend in to the adult she becomes someday.
