Birthday Weekend!

( Warning long post with LOTS of pictures!)

Well you guys my baby is officially 1 year old! I just can't believe it! I was super emotional all week leading up to it and now that its official and she is a whole year old its a lot easier to come to terms with ( seeing I have absolutely no choice in the matter :)

Faith had a wonderful WONDERFUL weekend! Well first off my mom came in town from California for the weekend which was the biggest blessing! As you all know Austin has not been a easy transition for me and I was not looking forward to spending Faith's first birthday alone so having my mom come out was such a gift! And beyond that my cousin and her daughter drove down from Dallas to spend the weekend with us as well!

No more picture's please!

One sweet thing I must record for my own memories...My mom's flight arrived super late Thursday night so Friday morning when Faith woke up I took her into my mom's room so she could wake up her Grammy! I openned the door then put her down next to me and she just starred for a minute at the figure sleeping on the bed. Then when my mom sat up in bed and Faith realized who it was she literally ran straight to her arms wide openned for the biggest hug. It was so beautiful and definitley made me tear up! This girl loves her Grammy very much!

Friday Grammy, Faith and I spent the day just hanging out before my cousins came into town. We went out to lunch, to the play area at the mall and Grammy took Faith shopping to pick out a birthday gift!

Faith happened to love this little doggie statue at the mall and I may have to go back and get it for her one of these days because I am telling you the girl loves her some doggies!

Hi Doggie!

Mommy I want one...ppllleeeaassseee!

Saturday was of course THE BIG BIRTHDAY! After getting my sweet girl up and singing happy birthday to her we had a super fun and casual day! We hung out at home and the pool most of the day, baked a cake hung some pictures on the wall, played outside at the park and later that night had a BBQ by the pool!

Daddy did a great job manning the BBQ with some delicious hamburgers and hot dogs!

And Faith was too hungry to wait so she just snacked on her toes

After eating some hot dogs and hamburgers we played the afternoon away in the pool! Faith must of discovered her tongue since she is one cuz girl had it sticking out all day! Also you will notice the lack of a bathing suit...birthday girls can swim in whatever they want no bathing suit necessary :)

Now she can climb out of the kiddie pool area!

And  more tongue hanging out

No tongue in this picture!

Oh wait there it is!

Love my girl!

I'd like to start the tradition of making Faith a birthday cake every year. Not necessarily for the big party or anything but for the family party and I think it would just be a fun tradition to start for our family! This year I decided to do a fun rainbow cake and it came out really  great!

My little cousin J helping mix the colors

Seperating out all the colors

Ready to bake

The end result was really yummy!

So its nothing fancy I know but its only year 1 so I didn't want to set the bar to high :)

One special tradition Faith's birthmom asked us to do with her on her birthdays was to have a small quiet moment as a family and give her a cupcake and sing to her. And because we had a small quiet mellow party to begin with, we gave Faith her cupcake while our small little family group sang happy birthday to Faith! She of course immediatley went to touch the flame but once Grammy blew it out she dove right on in to her cupcake!

I love how she digs right in! She does take after her Mama!

And silly Dada as usual!

Finally it was time for Faith to open her gifts! She openned the first one from her Grandma Pat and pretty much decided that the Elmo phone she got her was all she needed for her birthday and she called it a night :) OK not really but she loved her Elmo phone very much! She got lots and lots of adorable clothes, a giant baby doll, a boppy penguin, an interactive baby piano that connects with the TV, books, a pop up toy, money and her first mini ATV!

Woo-Hoo! Money!!!!!!!!

Elmo Phone

The doll is bigger than Faith but she just adores it!

She loves pushing her penguin down and it pops right back up!

Notice she is driving and on the phone? Well that isn't illegal here like it was in California so she's OK :)

This face just cracks me up! Don't ask me what she was doing or thinking but its too funny not to post!

Faith has so much stuff! Toys, clothes, you name it she has an abundance of it ( which is a whole other blog post in and of itself) but goodness gracious she is one blessed and loved little girl!

So all in all it was a wonderful first birthday for Faith. We were so blessed to have my mom and cousins here celebrating with us. It just made the day complete being surronded by people who love us and who love Faith.

I still can't fathom how a year has passed. How the sweet baby who I held in my arms on the day I met her is now a walking, talking,  ( tantrum throwing :) beautiful BEAUTIFUL 1 year old girl. We are so thankful to be her parents, to have made it through one year of parenthood and look forward to every year ahead.

She loves jumping into anything fluffy!
Happy Birthday Sweet Faith!

isn't it just amazing how the first year flies by so quickly?! i felt the same way you did when milo turned one. i thought i was going to be so emotional all day long ~ turns out i was too busy and then the day was gone and then i was okay. ;) i felt that way about letting go of 2009 also ~ the year he came to us....as you said....i had no say in the matter ~ the world was going to go into 2010 with or without me! :)

looks like such a fun day for little winni! :) i have found that the second year goes just as fast or even faster than the first so enjoy every second! :)

so good to "meet" you on the f/b adoption group! love that we share a special name together. :)

What a wonderful weekend.
I'm really hoping when Isabel is reunited with her grandparents in a few weeks she'll run and be just as happy as Faith was.

How did you make that cake? It's so cool. I like that tradition. I've made Isabel's for the past two years and hope I'm always able to do it. Something special about making our kids their birthday cakes.

So sweet of her birthmom to ask you to do that on her birthdays. A gift from her each year.

Isabel was the same way last Christmas. Her first gift was a doll and she didn't care anything about the rest of them. The pic of her with the money is excellent and that baby doll. WOW! I want one for Isabel.

So glad it was a good weekend despite it being in Austin. Happy Birthday Faith.
