Releasing the Dream

I love the messages preached by Joel Osteen. I am so happy to be a facebook fan and receive his daily devotionals. So often it is if they are speaking right to me.

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

It’s good to be passionate about your dreams, but did you know a dream can actually become an idol? If it’s all you think about, and you’re not going to be happy unless it happens your way, that’s out of balance. The fact is, sometimes you have to release that dream back to the Father.

Sometimes we can get frustrated because we are trying to force things to happen on our timetable. Sometimes we hold on to things so tightly, but when we finally are willing to let them go, that’s when God can bring them to pass. If you’ll choose to release that frustration and not let it become the center of your attention, but instead, use that same time and energy to thank God that He’s directing your steps, you open the door for God to give you the desires of your heart.

We have to remember, God already knows what we want and what we need. He’s the One who put those desires in us. We shouldn’t be consumed by trying to make things happen. Instead, a greater act of faith is to be happy right where you are; to stay open and trust God because He has good plans in store for your future!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father God, today I release my dreams, my desires, my “wants” like a seed falling to the ground. I know that You have a good plan for my future, and I trust You to bring it to pass in my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Since the day we moved to Austin my mind and heart have been overwhelmed and consumed with back moving back to California. How can we do it but more importantly WHEN can we do it. My answer is now...God's answer is obviously not yet. In fact it may be never. But the devil has been working on me good, he has pushed me to allow this dream of returning to California to become my idol. My all encompassing mind comsuming idol.

Its time to return that dream to the Father. To allow Him to work in my life, the life he has for me right now living in Austin. Its time to let it go and trust HIS mighty plan for my life knowing it may or may not involve California again. But I have to let it go, to trust HIM, and allow HIM to be my idol. Not my desire to move back to California. And everytime I question God and His plan I can look at Faith and know that HIS PLAN is always perfect!

Ohh my goodness that pic of Faith is adorable and I love her dress.

God's plan is always perfect, we just have to accept/trust his plan and not make our own plans.

This is so good! My Bible study this week has been on faith and something I underlined was "a faith based on who God is frees Him completely to show us what He can do! It's all a matter of focus. Right motives invite real miracles." It's so easy to get focused on what we expect God to do rather than who He is. Thanks for posting this great reminder!

I love the positive outlook it brought into your situation with the moving. Hopefully your new found outlook will help you to find joy and happiness in your new home.

Great post. There have been a few times that I have been able to fully give my dream over to God. The dream of a husband and the dream of ever adopting a child. I don't forget those lessons when God immediately answered my dreams after giving them up, both times.
And now with our foster care journey. I was letting it consume me until I was able to just set it to the side and wait on God's timing. And then my husband was ready to start and here we are, starting the process and growing as we do.

I think I need to sign up to receive his devotionals. Thanks for sharing. And if you want to/can get together on Sunday let me know. We would love to meet you somewhere.
