5 Things

Five Things I Actually Like About Being in Austin

1) Our apartment. We have a beautiful 3 bedroom 2 bath apartment in a great community. There is literally a playground right outside our door and it really is a great place! Everything is nice and new and we have been blessed with quiet neighbors! It is a place that would easily be over $2 grand out in California and its not even close to that here. I love that we have plenty of space and honestly its just a beautiful place to call our temporary home!

2) Our church! Through a friend of a friend of a friend basically we found a wonderful church to call home! It is the kind of place that after the very first service we knew it would be our home church! Every speaker has been amazing with incredible messages and it is a church with a passion to change the world!

3) Our doctor! We have recently met him finally and we adore him! He has a baby girl who is almost exactly Faith's age so not only does he get it as a doctor but he also gets it as a father. He is super good with Faith and all kids I'm sure. He is silly and very much takes his time with us. Faith has been sick these past few weeks on and off and the office is always quick to get us in and we are very happy there!

4) I love living close to part of my extended family. We are now a 3 hour drive from one of my Aunt's, my cousin her husband and daughter and my other cousin his wife and their two kids. Its been so nice to take weekend visits to see them where as before it was a planned expensive flight half way across the country. It's nice now to just jump in the car and tell them I am on my way!

5) While being completely on our own has been more lonely than my heart could have ever conceived there is also something very empowering about it. To know that we are doing it on our own every day. No family to reach out to for baby sitting or even a free ten minutes to run to Target. No friends to go out to lunch with when I need some time away and no one to depend on but my husband. Its honestly the hardest thing I have ever EVER done and I am BEYOND ready to be back in California BUT I have learned so much about myself and my capabilities as not only a wife and mother but as a grown woman. Everyday I wonder how I am going to get through yet every day I do. Honestly I often look back at the end of the day and pat myself on the back. I'm doing it, raising Faith, teaching her, playing with her, taking care of a home and a husband and doing it all independantly. It makes me really really proud of myself to know that if nothing else Texas has taught me just how strong I am when I have to be.
