Friday morning we woke up bright and early because we still had a lot to pack into the truck last second including our king size mattress! And when I tell you we had NO ROOM I mean it! We ( meaning my husband and I around 7 in the morning) got our giant mattress downstairs in shoved into the truck. Hubby literally had to like stay in the truck while I closed it, holding the mattress in place and then snuck out the bottom before we locked it shut! It was quite the sight but good news is it all fit!
I am happy to report day 1 of our drive back to California was flawless. We were very nervous driving such a large vehicle but thankfully the day was a piece of cake. We were even blessed by this beautiful sight.
We only stopped for gas and made great timing despite having to stay under 60 miles an hour due to our giant truck. We almost made it to Tucson but about 30 miles before I started feeling super sick to my stomach so we decided to pull over and call it a night.

We both knocked out the seconds our heads hit the pillows on Friday night. We were so pooped!
Saturday morning we woke up bright and early again to jump on the road. We ate some breakfast, reloaded our valuables that we had taken out the night before and then were on the road again anticipating to be home around 6pm that night.
Well as we turned out of the drive way of the hotel going about 3 miles an hour all of a sudden we heard like something was dragging and then we look out the drivers side window to see Hubby's car, still on the tow dolly, running away! It was rolling full force into an empty field! It jumped the curb and went about 50 feet into the empty field of dirt! We jumped out of the truck to find that the tow dolly had literally broke! It was still connected to our truck and the car was still connected to the back of the tow dolly yet the two were seperate!

First we just thanked God that it happened when and where it did. I mean it could have been a deadly accident on the freeway with a runaway car! So we did feel blessed it happen in an empty field right across from our parking lot.
We immediatley got on the phone with just about everyone. We called the local police to get a report ( and to make sure we were covered with our insurance and the rental truck place) we were on the 1-800 number with our rental place trying to get it all worked out to get a new one delivered. We calld numbers to find a new available tow dolly and tow truck drivers to come and get the old one while bringing us the new one! It was pure chaos and DRAMA!
120 cell phone minutes, 80 text messages, about 100 pictures and over 6 hours later we were on the road again.
You see part of the reason we had to be home Saturday night is because Faith is in California staying with my mom and step dad. But my mom and step dad left Saturday morning so during the day Saturday while we were driving we had shift loads of people coming to watch Faith. My dad came over , my aunt, my step sister and one of my best friends all to stay with Faith. I know she was well loved and cared for but I know she was probably confused and overwhelmed at all tha change going on. So we knew we had to get home so that on Sunday morning when she woke up she would have Mama and Dada there.
Praise the Lord the rest of our trip went fairly flawless. We made it home around 12:30pm, which made me so sad because of course Faith was asleep and as desperatley as I wanted to see her I wasn't crazy enough to wake her up. :)
Sunday I woke up to my sweet baby girl as she just looked at me and said " Mama...stretch!" :) Love her!
We had to return our rental truck that day so we went outside to unload some stuff at the house to find this...
Our car had been tagged overnight! Seriously what else could possibly happen to us on this trip? We were home yet we still had drama! So after a call to the police to get a police report for insurance purposes ( second call to the police of our trip) Finally we got it all taken care of and went to our storage unit where we were met by my dad and some amazing friends to help us unload the truck.
After we went to our favorite spot for a late lunch and then came home for some MUCH needed naps for all!
It feels so incredibly good to be home! Not one regret not one moment we have questioned if this was right. If anything we just keep asking ourselves why we ever left in the first place!
We are so so so so so so sooooooooooooooo happy to finally be HOME!
| As you can see it was still connected to our truck and just snapped or broke or something at the bottom |
| You can see it was an almost clean break! We are still in shock how it could have happened! |
